Edfords Chicken is all raised here on the farm, we believe these are one of the most sustainable chickens available in the UK, if you’re interested in why we are able to make this claim please read further down, but before that let’s talk about flavour!

Edfords Organic Chicken tastes as it should, these slow grown birds reared for over 100 days live 2-3 times longer than commercial chickens and have access to pasture all day and every day, they roam free and enjoy the natural behaviours of chickens and this leads to beautiful tasting chicken, we know you’ll taste the difference!

Our birds are all free range as is standard for all organic animals raised for meat, we work with another farm in East Anglia who produce an entirely Soya Free, GM Free Organic feed for all our poultry, with 74% of the ingredients being local and a further 16% being UK it is quite the opposite to standard commercial feeds which are typically 80% imported ingredients. 
Other producers speak of “sustainable soya” but this just doesn’t exist, to grow Soy Beans deforestation has been destroying entire eco systems around the world, those claiming to grow this sustainably are large agricultural companies responsible for the majority of the soya grown around the world and therefore their “sustainable soya” is only possible because of the mass production of unsustainable soya making it all unsustainable.

At Edfords our working with nature principles go beyond our own farm, we don’t want to be a part of the destruction of land in South America or any other part of the world and this is why working with other local farms who grow what we need to feed our animals without chemicals makes us believe that we are producing the most sustainable chicken (and pork) in the UK.
